Important Information

The schedule for each bell is only stored in memory so if the bell is powered off and back on, it will not ring. The schedule will need to be pushed to the bell again (see below).

Configuring

Setting the secondary school schedule

To add or modify the bell schedule you will need the 'Bell Scheduler' program and the configuration files which can be found by clicking here. When the program is running, follow these steps:

  1. Under 'Device List' click open on the menu bar to the right and select 'Secondary Bells.csv'
  2. Under 'Bell Schedule' click open and select 'Secondary Schedule.txt'
  3. Go back to Device List and click 'Upload' on the menu bar.
  4. Wait for the Upload button to become un-highlighted.

Note: Make sure all the bells are online otherwise the program will fail (and not tell you).

Adding or modifying a bell time to the schedule

If required, new bell times may be added. This is useful for setting one off bell times for special events. Follow these steps for how to add a new bell time to the schedule.

  1. Ensure the existing bell time is set into the configuration program by following the above steps.
  2. Under 'Bell Schedule' click 'Add' on the menu bar
  3. Modify or set the following fields:
    • Name - the event name which triggers the bell
    • Time -  the time of the event
    • Bell - the bells that will be triggered by this event. Refer to the 'Device List' tab for the bell number
    • Day - the days of the week which the event occurs
    • Date - the date which the event begins and will start activating the bell
    • Dur - the duration of the bell ring (0-99)
    • PW - the unit of time
    • Use - check the box if the bell should ring for this event
    • Once - check the box if this is a one off event
    • Del - click to delete the event
  4. Under 'Device List' click 'Upload' on the menu bar and wait for the Upload button to become un-highlighted

Adding or removing a bell

If required, a new bell can be added to receive the bell schedule. Follow these steps for how to add a new bell.

  1. Under 'Device List' click 'Add' on the menu bar
  2. Set the following fields:
    • Clear - check box if you want to remove the current schedule from the bell.
    • Server Name - the IP of the bell (see Locations and IP)
    • Port - leave this blank
    • Username - admin
    • Password - refer to the password manager
    • Delay - leave as default
    • Delete - click to delete the bell from the list
    • Download - leave unchecked
  3. Now you can add to or modify the bell schedule and push the schedule to the bells listed under device list

During the school holidays or during special events, you may want to disable the bell. To do this refer to the steps below.

  1. Load the bells and secondary schedule into the Netbell configuration program.
  2. By default, the 'Use' checkbox will be checked. Uncheck the bells that you do not want to sound.
  3. Upload the schedule.

To re-enable the bells, simply load the bells and secondary schedule into the program (default) and upload.
