Introduction

For the SEQTA Marks books to correctly assign the grades to the students in the class it is imperative that these are set-up correctly. The grade cut-offs need to be determined by all teachers teaching the course and judgments made should be based on grade related descriptors for the standards required for each grade. This also need to be approved by the HOD/TIC.

Do not use the inbuilt default grade cut-offs in the courses. It is important to note that if you do not enter anything in the Grade cut-offs section of your programme, then the defaults WILL be used. Also, it is imperative that all set grade cut-offs need to end in “.5”

Entering the Grade Cut-offs in your SEQTA Marks books

Grade cut-offs need to be entered in SEQTA marks books using a settings of 0.5 below the whole number that is the actual cut-off for each grade of A, B, C, D.

For example: if the grade cut-off for a C is 50%, this is entered as 49.5

The only grades used are A, B, C, D, E. Check there is no “X” or any other letter of the alphabet appearing in the Grade cut-offs. The lowest “Lower” for the E grade is zero.

Follow these steps to either enter or modify the grade cut-offs in your Marks books.
