A parent purchased iPad is a required learning tool at John Septimus Roe for all students in years 4-12. Students in years 10-12 have the option to bring any laptop or tablet device to the school with the expectation of having it connected to the Wi-Fi and internet.
The iPad preferred is the current model new 9.7-inch iPad with minimum 32GB of storage capacity. Some earlier generation models, which may already be owned by some families, are an acceptable alternative, such as iPad Air 1 or 2 as long as it is a model capable of running the latest version of iOS. At time of writing (Jan 2020), this is iOS 13.1. An iPad Gen 1, 2, 3 and 4, or iPad Mini, are not suitable as they cannot run the latest iOS operating system.
