Wireless Display Adapters (WDAs) should be plugged into most displays around the school - that also have an attached HDMI cable. WDAs allow the user to connect to a device wirelessly, and be mobile with that device for up to 10-15m, without needing to be plugged in via cables.
WDAs have a USB port on one side to provide power to the device, and an HDMI port on the other - to output the video signal that it receives from connected devices. Both of these need to be plugged into the display for the WDA to operate properly.
Requirements:
- Have access to display with WDA installed.
- Be in same room as WDA (within 10-15m)
- Have laptop or other Windows device.
- Have WiFi turned ON on device (but an exact network connection is not required)
How to connect to WDA:
- Enter Source selection for Display: Press the Source Search Button on the projector remote. Other Displays will have a similar button somewhere on their device remote.
- Select Source for Display: Using the up and down arrow keys, select one of the other HDMI input options. For projectors, this will typically be HDMI2 - a small amount of trial and error for the other 3 HDMI input options may be required for smartboards.
- Once the HDMI input for the WDA is selected, the display should show the WDA front page, which indicates the name of the WDA that you're going to connect to.
- On your laptop, press the following key combination: ⊞ Win -> K (That's the Windows key and the 'K' key) as a shortcut to bring up a list of WDAs to connect to - as seen below. Click on the WDA name indicating the room that you're in to begin connection.
- After selecting the WDA to connect to, you will be prompted to Enter a PIN, this PIN is shown on the display that the WDA is connected to, as seen below. Enter this pin into the prompt on your computer, and you will successfully connect.
